Sarfira is an Hindi remake of the Tamil film Soorarai Pottru, released in 2020
The highly anticipated Hindi remake of the National Award-winning film “Soorarai Pottru,” featuring the esteemed Akshay Kumar, has been titled “Sarfira.” Akshay Kumar takes on the lead role, with Radhika Madan portraying the female protagonist. The filmmakers have unveiled the film’s trailer today. This biographical film chronicles the life of G. R. Gopinath, the visionary behind the Indian low-cost airline Simplifly Deccan.
“Sarfira” delves into the journey of an ordinary man navigating the complexities of the business world. The trailer introduces us to Akshay Kumar as Vir Mahtre, a man of modest means who dreams of launching an affordable airline to make air travel accessible to all. The trailer highlights his relentless struggles and the numerous obstacles he encounters on his path to realizing his dream. Paresh Rawal appears as the antagonist, with Suriya making a cameo appearance. “Sarfira,” featuring Akshay Kumar and Radhika Madan, is slated for release on July 12 this year.
The original 2020 Tamil drama, “Soorarai Pottru,” was directed by Sudha Kongara and produced by Suriya and Guneet Monga, under their respective banners 2D Entertainment and Sikhya Entertainment. The story, conceptualized and written by Kongara, starred Suriya, Aparna Balamurali, and Paresh Rawal, with supporting roles played by Mohan Babu, Urvashi, and Karunas, among others.
Following “Sarfira,” Akshay Kumar will be seen in “Welcome To The Jungle.” With Sanjay Dutt no longer part of the project, the ensemble cast now includes Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, Disha Patani, Raveena Tandon, Lara Dutta, Jacqueline Fernandez, Paresh Rawal, Arshad Warsi, Johnny Lever, Rajpal Yadav, Tusshar Kapoor, and Shreyas Talpade.
