The much-anticipated sequel Pushpa 2: The Rule has created history at the box office, becoming the biggest opener in Indian cinema. Starring Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna, the film earned a staggering ₹165 crore (India Net) on its first day, surpassing the record set by SS Rajamouli’s RRR.

Day 1 Box Office Performance

Pushpa 2 raked in ₹165 crore on Thursday, December 5, with its total India Net collection reaching ₹175 crore, including earnings from premiere shows. The Telugu version contributed significantly to this figure, with earnings of ₹95.1 crore.

The film enjoyed an impressive overall occupancy rate of 82.66% in Telugu on day one, with night shows peaking at 90.19%. Its Hindi version saw a 59.83% occupancy, with cities like Hyderabad, Chennai, and Jaipur experiencing maximum footfall.

Fans’ Overwhelming Response

Across India, theaters were packed with enthusiastic fans who danced, sang, and cheered throughout the movie. The response was especially electrifying in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, where Allu Arjun commands a massive fan following.

Worldwide Box Office and Pre-Sales

While the exact worldwide collection is yet to be confirmed, early estimates suggest Pushpa 2 could achieve a global opening as high as ₹300 crore. Pre-sales in the US and other North American markets indicate strong overseas earnings, potentially adding another feather to its cap as the biggest Indian opener worldwide.

Comparing with RRR

For context, RRR—starring Allu Arjun’s cousin Ram Charan alongside Jr. NTR—collected ₹133 crore on its opening day, with ₹103.13 crore coming from its Telugu version alone.
