In a thrilling encounter at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York, India emerged victorious against Pakistan by 6 runs in the ICC Men’s T20 Cricket World Cup. Batting first, India managed to score 119 runs in 19 overs before being bowled out by the Pakistani pacers. Rishabh Pant contributed significantly with 42 runs off 31 balls, while Axar Patel added 20 runs from 18 balls, helping the Men in Blue set a competitive target.
Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah were the standout bowlers for Pakistan, each claiming three wickets, with Mohammad Amir taking two.
India’s bowling unit, spearheaded by Jasprit Bumrah, showcased a valiant effort to restrict Pakistan to just 113 runs for seven wickets in the allotted 20 overs, falling short of the 120-run target. Bumrah delivered an exceptional performance, taking three wickets and conceding only 14 runs in his four overs. Hardik Pandya chipped in with two wickets, and Axar Patel and Arshdeep Singh each took one wicket.
Bumrah’s stellar performance earned him the Player of the Match award. Notably, this match marked the lowest target India has successfully defended in T20 internationals.
